No, JKB Agro and Foods (producer of JKB plantain flour) uses unripe green plantains to make its plantain flour and it gets processed before the sugar content develops in the plantains. The raw plantain gives the plantain flour earthy, whole-wheat flavor.
The demand for plantain flour is increasing day by day especially due to the increased awareness of its health benefits. Plantain flour has been found to be healthy as well as high energy food. Plantain flour is a better substitute for cassava products (like garri/fufu), pounded yam, yam flour (amala) etc. especially for diabetic patients. Because it digests easily, it can be used for late night light meal without causing constipation.
Making JKB plantain flour is a simple process of peeling, drying and milling the dried plantain into flour. There is only one ingredient which is unripe plantain.
